With it’s causal yet classy atmosphere, Seasons Restaurant brings big city style dining to small town America. However, while the atmosphere may say “big city”, the prices here do not. Located at 53 E. Tioga Street, Seasons is perfectly situated across from the Dietrich Theater making dinner and a movie in town a snap. Aside from a wide entree selection Seasons offers many salads, soups and sandwiches, much to the delight of movie goers looking for a quick meal before their movie. An excellent location, diverse menu coupled with a friendly and professional staff are just some of the ingredients that make Seasons a delicious choice to dine at in Tunkhannock.
Owners Bruce and Kathryn Arrowood opened the doors to Seasons in October of 2008 and have made their restaurant a hit among locals and visitors to the area. Tunk Alive asked Bruce (who is also Seasons’ executive chef) a few of the things that makes Seasons so special. He explained, “Seasons is a PA preferred restaurant. Much of our menu and specials change based on whats available in area. We feel our customers can taste and see the difference. As an example, we use organic produce, many seafood items arrive the morning before service and we offer artisan breads.”
Seasons offers an adventurous and eclectic menu with choices ranging from fresh seafood to steak and even vegetarian fare. Staying true to it’s name, Seasons menu changes seasonally. As mentioned earlier, the prices are kept affordable. For example their Bistro Steak, an 8 oz Kobe steak served with garlic mashed potatoes, costs only $14.95 – compare that to Kobe beef prices in any large city. While the menu ranges from daring to time-honored, Seasons adds their own spin on such classic dishes as raviolis; delicious herb raviolis are stuffed with fire roasted vegetables and topped with a portobello mushroom sauce.
While it may be a favorite stop of local restaurant goers for their edibles, it’s their imbibables that are quickly making them a favorite of local beer affectionados and brewers. This, due to their excellent selection of microbrews supplied from several local breweries and their popular monthly beer club meetings. The club, open to anyone 21 and over, picks a specific type of beer and then samples and discusses that type of brew. Members are encouraged to bring with them any favorites in each months categories to share with the group. Chef Bruce Arrowood says that the main focus of the club is to help “educate our locals on beer craft” and to try to “get them to think out of the box”. This months meeting, held on Tuesday May 25th, sampled and discussed wheat beers.
Owners Bruce and Kathryn explain that food and drink are only part of the picture. Apart from their focus on moderate prices and carefully selected menu choices, the staffs attention to service is a big reason for the success of Seasons. The servers at Seasons are unpretentious and always willing to accommodate guests. Bruce tells Tunk Alive “People in Tunkhannock love to dine out, but only if the whole experience is stimulating”. We couldn’t agree more. Hats off to an excellent local restaurant. If you haven’t experienced Seasons yet, what are you waiting for?
