Parade Day Food and Entertainment in Tunkhannock

When: Saturday, March 13th 2010

It’s time for the annual Scranton St. Patty’s Day parade again! Unfortunately, WNEP weather is calling for rain and wind so far (http://www.wnep.com/weather/7dayforecast/), but that won’t keep many parade-goers back from the festivities. For those from Tunkhannock that make the trip and get tired of waiting on lines to get into venues while being rained on, venturing back into Tunkhannock Saturday night is a great option! There will be plenty of entertainment and celebrations going on. Here are a list of things going on in Tunkhannock on Parade Day!

Music:

Traverse
@ the Second Wind
Show starts at 9:00 pm

The Hairy Edge

Theater

The Grapes of Wrath (7:00 pm) / Dietrich Theater – $10 ticket
The play “The Grapes of Wrath” by Frank Galati adapted from John Steinbeck’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel will come to life on the Dietrich stage for a 5-day run.  This community-based theatre production will show the story of one farm family’s struggle to overcome the devastation of the Great Depression with humanity and dignity intact. http://dietrichtheater.com/show.aspx?sid=1544&id=23

Food:

Seasons Downtowne
To celebrate St. Patty’s, Seasons will be preparing their popular Irish Stout Shrimp; Jumbo shrimp cooked in Irish Stout beer, fresh herbs, lemon and seafood stock. They’ve just introduced their vineyard salad; a mixture of organic baby greens, red grapes, candied walnuts, gorg. cheese, grilled chicken and an apple champagne dressing. Finish your meal with our Baileys Irish Cream Cheesecake!

Bruce Arrowood, Chef and Owner, recommends pairing their Irish Stout Shrimp with a Beamish, Irish Stout Beer.

I think this year, instead of heading to Scranton we will check out dining and entertainment here in Tunkhannock. Thanks for posting some ideas!
