The weather has been warming up, and this weekend is looking good for entertainment in Tunkhannock. Let me start by saying this: Friday night on Main Street (Tioga St.) is going to be a blast! Two great bands within walking distance of one another – Traverse and the Escape Artists! Then Saturday night two other great bands will be playing in the Tunkhannock area; Morgans Run at DeLeo’s in Lake Winola and Cover Girl over at the Creekside in Tunkhannock.
Starting the weekend off will be local band Traverse (full band) playing the Annual Beach Party at the Second Wind starting at 9:00 pm. The Second Wind, located just across from the Dietrich Theater, hosts their Annual Beach Party and it is always an absolute blast! As a matter of fact, it’s the biggest night of the year at the Second Wind. Apart from the party festivities, live music by Traverse (Mike Cahill, Jesse Place, Aaron Coolbaugh & Joey Joey Powpachak) should keep you dancing and well entertained. Right down the street from Traverse, starting at 9:30 pm, fellow local band the Escape Artists will be rocking at the Beagle Pub. The Escape Artists (Brandon Turner, Jason Zeidman & Randi Nichols) cover “not so run-of-the-mill” songs from the 80′s, 90′s and 00′s as well as performing some original music. Formed in the summer of 2009, they’ve since booked many venues in Wilkes-Barre, Allentown, and more recently in their hometown of Tunkhannock. Attaining nothing but positive reviews from the crowd and venues alike, it’s always a great show

Moving on to Saturday night, the band Morgan’s Run (Pete Morgan, Terry Miller, Mike Gozdiskowski & Maxxe Spencer) will be playing DeLeo’s in Lake Winola. Morgan’s Run has been playing the local area for over three years now, covering a wide selection of music including classic rock and classic country. Morgan’s Run likes their music “Southern Fried” and cover everything from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams to Marshall Tucker and Merle Haggard. (TunkAlive Facebook Event Page)
The band Covergirl (Ashley Hunting, Justin “JP” Hackling, Lee Sieminski and Dominic Teixeria), also playing Saturday night, will perform at the Creekside Inn in Tunkhannock from 9:30pm – 1:30am. Covergirl was a steady house-band at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Wilkes-Barre from last October to January.. The band plays a wide variety of music from classic rock to some of today’s more popular hits by artists such as P!nk, Alicia Keys, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & The Beatles. If you’re looking for something for the whole family, stop by the Dietrich Theater this Sunday for a taste of theater with “Theater Fun”. Michaela Moore of All About Theatre Performing Arts School will present a workshop that is all about imagination and fun! Come and create a character, play some great theatre games, and create a play. All levels of experience and all ages are welcome to this event and admission is free! Event takes place Sat, Jan. 23 at 11:00 am.
